Job Summary

The Assistant Football Coach/Offensive Coordinator is a full-time position responsible for designing, implementing, and leading the offensive philosophy of the football program. This role oversees offensive game planning, play-calling, player development, recruiting, and supervision of the offensive staff while supporting the Head Coach s vision and program goals. The Offensive Coordinator also plays a key role in student-athlete academic success, compliance with NCAA and conference regulations, and day-to-day football operations.

Responsibilities
  • Coaching & Offensive Leadership:
    Design, implement, and lead the offensive scheme, including philosophy, terminology, game plans, and play-calling.
  • Plan and organize daily offensive practice sessions and game preparation for championship and non-championship segments.
  • Lead, supervise, and evaluate offensive position coaches, graduate assistants, interns, managers, and/or work-study students.
  • Support and execute the overall goals, standards, and culture of the football program.
  • Promote sportsmanship, professionalism, and accountability through daily leadership and conduct.
Recruiting & Player Development
  • Lead and assist with recruiting prospective student-athletes in accordance with NCAA, SIAC, University System of Georgia, and Albany State University policies.
  • Assist with tracking admissions, eligibility, and roster management for recruited student-athletes.
  • Monitor and support student-athlete academic progress in coordination with compliance and academic support staff.
  • Demonstrate consistent concern for the overall welfare, development, and success of student-athletes.
Administration & Operations
  • Assist, if assigned, with managing the program s budget and ensuring fiscal responsibility.
  • Assist with coordinating team and recruiting travel in compliance with institutional and governing body regulations.
  • Assist with equipment ordering, inventory, and supply management in coordination with athletic administration.
  • Work collaboratively with the Compliance Officer to ensure adherence to all NCAA, SIAC, USG, and institutional rules.
  • Assist with facilities oversight or game management duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
  • Engage regularly with athletic training and sports medicine staff to promote student-athlete health, safety, and wellness.
Engagement & Advancement
  • Assist with camps, clinics, promotional activities, fundraising initiatives, and public relations efforts for the football program and Department of Athletics.
  • Participate in departmental and institutional community engagement activities.
  • Attend and participate in required conference meetings, events, and championships.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor s Degree

Minimum of two (2) years of collegiate, professional, or high-level coaching or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master s Degree.

Offensive coordinator or offensive leadership experience at the collegiate level.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of NCAA sport specific rules and regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of football offensive systems and techniques.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate, develop and mentor student-athletes.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative coaching and administrative team.
  • Ability to develop and execute plans aligned with program, department and institutional goals.
  • Proficiency with computers and job-related software applications.
  • Ability to provide timely and accurate information as requested by stakeholders.
