Apprentice Technician - GroundWatch - Albany, GA

Overview

Position title:

Apprentice Technician – Ground Watch. Entry-level role to support Crane Technicians and maintain a safe working environment on cranes. Safety-first environment; opportunity to gain electrical background.

• A basic understanding and working knowledge of CSA, OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, and other codes or regulations pertaining to our industry. Must be able to get specific regulations if requested.
• Keep Crane Technicians safe from obstacles or safety risks that arise during repairs.
• Complete all daily paperwork accurately and completely.
• Maintain a professional appearance and image at all times.
• Maintain all company equipment and assets in proper working order and neat or clean.
• Keep a proper stock level of inventory and line stock items on the service vehicle.
• Accountable for all company issued tools, ladders, and inventory levels assigned to you.
• Generate sales and service leads during service calls and identify the proper personnel of the customers need and level of interest.
• Develop a thorough working knowledge of service literature, service policies and labor rates.
• Provide customers with a "Safety Summary" on any safety items noticed during service visits and obtain a signed copy as evidence of notice to the customer.
• Maintain regular communication with the local office as needed.
• Complete a "Safety Audit" on the limit switches and proper general operation of any crane you have worked on or inspected prior to leaving the customers premises.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Must be motivated to learn new tasks, have a safety minded mentality and pay close attention to detail to remove hazards or obstacles from the work areas where our Technicians are performing maintenance or repairs.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work varied overtime, be available for on-call as part of the service office rotation and be able to travel and work out of town occasionally. Must be able to work off step ladders, climb fixed or step ladders, work from various types of lifts, wear full-body harness fall protection equipment and use PPE as required.

Frequent lifting of parts weighing 10-20 pounds and occasional lifting of 30-50 pounds. Infrequent lifting of parts weighing over 50 pounds. Must be able to stand, walk and climb for extended periods.

EDUCATION: Associate’s degree in Industrial Electricity, Electronic Engineering Technology or related field or equivalent vocational/technical training and experience are preferred.
