JOB SUMMARY:
The Dougherty County School System is seeking a Plumber to join our Facilities department. The Plumber will maintain the flow and drainage of water, air, and other gases by assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures district-wide. The Plumber will also maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems in district facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical College Diploma or Certificate in the area of Plumbing;

Five (5) years of verifiable experience in the plumbing trade;

Knowledge of technology as related to specific job functions;

A valid Georgia Driver's License and a good driving record;

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Excellent communication and organizational skills;

Ability to relate to read and interpret mechanical and plumbing drawings and details;

Ability to work from sketches, blueprints, and oral or written instruction;

Ability to safely operate and work from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and personnel lifts;

Ability to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Repairs, installs, and maintains the plumbing system including fixtures, food service, and other related equipment, pipes, unions, drains, water lines, etc.;

Repairs water lines, drain lines, pumps, heaters, appurtenances, etc.;

Installs and repairs drinking fountains, plumbing fixtures, life station systems, etc.;

Repairs irrigation piping and systems;

Diagnoses and repairs inoperative water heaters;

Repairs chilled and condenser water piping and devices;

Oversees and ensures the proper completion of work when performed and assisted by assigned helpers and/or laborers;

Assists in estimating and planning maintenance and construction plumbing projects;

Accurately and promptly document labor hours and materials expended on assigned tasks;

Identifies and reports repair needs and safety discrepancies when observed at facilities;

Assists in the design and specification of plumbing systems and fixtures and verifying the performance of work completed under purchase order contracts;

Maintains accountability and inventory for assigned tools and equipment;

Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade;

Knowledge of any codes related to the trade;

May serve as direct supervisor in absence of Team Leader;

May serve on the Environmental Health and Safety Emergency Response Team;

Performs other such duties needed or assigned by the supervisor.

Maintenance Services Supervisor

SALARY RANGE: Competitive salary and excellent benefits package in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide.
