JOB SUMMARY:
The Dougherty County School System is seeking a qualified and dedicated Electrician to join our Facilities & Maintenance Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing skilled electrical work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems across district buildings and facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical training in electrical system installation, repair and maintenance;

Experience as an electrician in all phases of electrical work;

Minimum of 5 years of professional electrical experience;

Knowledge of state/local electrical codes and safety regulation;

Must have valid Georgia Driver's license, and maintain a good driving record;

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriate.

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills;

Ability to prioritize tasks effectively, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects across various district locations;

Clear verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with facilities staff, administrators, and vendors;

Maintains a courteous, respectful demeanor in a school environment with staff, students, and the public.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, lighting, outlets, and other related systems schools and administrative buildings;

Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards;

Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems using appropriate testing devices;

Coordinate with maintenance staff and contractors as needed;

Maintain accurate records of repairs, installations, and inspections;

Respond to emergency calls and perform preventative maintenance as scheduled;

Assist in energy efficiency and lighting upgrade projects;

Performs other such duties needed or assigned by the Supervisor.

WORK/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and crouch for extended periods throughout the workday;

Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (occasionally heavier with assistance);

Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, and lifts at varying heights (including ceilings and rooftops);

Capable of performing work in tight spaces, such as crawl spaces, attics, and electrical closets;

Able to use hand and power tools with precision and manual dexterity;

Visual and auditory ability to safely perform all duties, including reading schematics, identifying wire colors, and hearing alarms or signals;

Must be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including hot, cold, dusty, or noisy areas;

Occasional need to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, and respirators;

SALARY RANGE: 12 Month Employee. Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide
