Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU/Cardiac Stepdown in Albany, GA (31701). 12-hour day shifts; cardiac telemetry experience required.   • Scheduled Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
  • Estimated Weekly Pay Range: $1,860 – $1,960
  • Unit: 44-bed Cardiology Stepdown (4A/4B) — cardiac stepdown RN, telemetry RN
  • Patient Ratios: RN 1:5;
    Nurse Aides 1:10
  • EMR: MEDITECH (experience with MEDITECH preferred)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Orientation: 16 hours + 3 unit-specific orientation shifts
  • Floating: May float to ICU (stepdown-level patients only unless ICU experience is documented)
  • Dress Code: Caribbean Blue scrubs; natural hair color; no fake nails, facial piercings, or visible tattoos
Job Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years recent PCU/Stepdown or telemetry RN experience in a large hospital setting (required)
  • Travel Experience: At least 1 successful prior travel nursing assignment (no first-time travelers)
  • License: Active RN license (must be valid at submission) — Georgia RN license or compact RN where applicable
  • Certifications: BLS (AHA) and ACLS required; NIHSS preferred
  • Telemetry Skills: Must independently read and interpret rhythm strips; telemetry RN skills required
  • Clinical Skills: Experience with cardiac drips, post-op CABG care, chest tubes, pacer wires preferred
  • Radius Requirement: Must live at least 75 miles from the facility (based on driver’s license address)
  • Scheduling: Flexible to work holidays and days around holidays as needed
  • Professionalism: Excellent attendance, strong communication, and willingness to float as needed
Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality progressive care and stepdown nursing for cardiology and cardiovascular surgery patients, including post-op day 1 CABG and other post-procedural care
  • Perform frequent assessments, recognize early deterioration, and escalate care per protocol in a high-acuity telemetry environment
  • Interpret, document, and respond to telemetry rhythms and rhythm changes as a telemetry RN
  • Administer and titrate cardiac drips and medications (Cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine renal dose, diuretics, heparin, primacor, vaprosol)
  • Support respiratory therapies (BiPAP/CPAP, vapotherm, high-flow oxygen; no full vents on unit)
  • Coordinate admissions, discharges, and transfers in a fast-paced, high-turnover unit — strong time management and documentation skills required
  • Provide post-op/procedural nursing care (chest tubes, pacer wires — orientation provided if needed)
  • Document efficiently in MEDITECH and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PICC team, RT, pharmacy) to ensure safe patient transitions
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies and professional dress code
