Strict 75 mile radius rule Unit 2C Observation Unit # of beds 22 Ratios 1:5 or 1:6 Charge in staffing Required Certifications BLS, ACLS not required, but highly recommended Common diagnoses/Types of patients miscellanous - medical observation unit Experience or 'Must have' skills Common titratable &/or set rate drips Heparin only Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?
(vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) No Vents Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? Heavy tele unit. Monitored by Central monitoring Shifts & Scheduling Weekend Requirements Every Other Weekend Holiday Requirements Rotate with perm staff Is there call or a standby requirement? no call Floating Requirements? Yes
