Facility Technician

JOB SUMMARY

• Under general supervision, basic general technical tasks on: electrical systems, fire safety systems, HVAC systems, mechanical and plumbing systems, and architectural systems. Architectural systems may include but are not limited to interior and exterior doors (including fire and some doors), ceiling systems, and wall systems. General tasks may include trouble-shooting minor issues on the pneumatic tube system, patient beds, nurse call systems, and televisions.
  
  General tasks also include shop cleanup and other general maintenance and upkeep. Works with a team and takes initiative. Helps maintain departmental compliance with governmental standards with documentation and with computerized maintenance management systems. Maintains a clean, neat and safe work environment.

• Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines
• Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization
• Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures
• Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs)
• Attend staff meetings and complete mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
• Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
• Wear protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver's License and meet auto insurability requirements as approved by Phoebe Putney Health System's insurance company.

• General environment:
  Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.
• May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights.
• May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms.
• May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
• Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
• Long-distance or air travel as needed - not to exceed 10% travel.
• May be scheduled as needed including overtime
• As part of employment, occupants with be entering/leaving secure medication storage areas, please note these medications should not be handled by non-licensed personnel and it is occupants’ responsibility area remains locked when exiting. Any issues or concerns regarding medications, can be addressed with a member of the Nursing or Pharmacy staff

• High School Diploma or GED (Required)
• Vocational Technical Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Maintenance (Preferred)

• 0 - 1-year Electrical repair, HVAC, and/or Mechanical maintenance, installation or contracting (Required)
• 1 - 2 years Healthcare or hospital facility maintenance setting (Preferred)

• No Certifications are Required or Preferred

• Prefer the ability to read blueprints, basic schematic, and basic wiring diagrams; or require the ability to learn and assimilate this skill quickly
• Must have the demonstrated ability to work with various tools and equipment.
