Overview
The CT technologist is responsible for performing CT scans and procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases. The technologist must accurately interpret physician scanning instructions, start and administer IV contrast media, and prepare and perform scans according to established protocols. The technologist should be knowledgeable about radiation exposure and make technical adjustments based on body habitus, age and the ALARA principle.
The technologist provides direct patient care to all ages and delivers high-quality customer service by treating every patient with respect and courtesy and explaining the exam. The technologist works collaboratively to maintain a positive work environment.
- Perform CT scans and procedures under supervision of a qualified physician.
- Accurately interpret physician scanning instructions.
- Start and administer IV contrast media; prepare and perform scans according to established protocols.
- Adjust technical factors to manage radiation exposure based on body habitus, age, and ALARA principles.
- Provide direct patient care to patients of all ages.
- Deliver excellent customer service: treat patients with respect and courtesy and explain the exam.
- Collaborate with teammates to maintain a positive work environment.
- Vocational Technical Degree in Radiologic Technology (Required)
- 1 - 2 years CT (Preferred)
- Certified Computed Tomography (CT) (ARRT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
