Job summary:
He dougherty county school system is seeking a parent facilitator to join our team of experienced, motivated, and effective professionals. The parent facilitator supports the academic, social-emotional, and family engagement needs of students enrolled in the pre-k program. This position serves as a key liaison between families, schools, and community partners to ensure students and families have access to resources that support school readiness, wellness, and overall student success.
The facilitator collaborates with administrators, teachers, and support staff to identify needs, coordinate services, and connect families with community-based resources such as healthcare, counseling, housing, and food support. This role also promotes strong family engagement, supports attendance and transition initiatives, and helps ensure culturally responsive support for the diverse families served by the district.
Minimum qualifications:
* associate's degree or higher required in early childhood education;or related field;
* experience working with families, children, or community-based organizations;
* knowledge of early childhood development and family engagement practices.;
* strong knowledge of computers and fundamental technology;
* understanding and respect for the diversity of families' economic, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds;
* general understanding of student data and confidentiality practices;
* experience in community outreach, case coordination, or social services preferred;
* such alternatives to the above qualifications as the superintendent and the board may find appropriate.
Skills and abilities:
* strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with families, school personnel, and community partners;
* ability to build trusting relationships with families from diverse economic, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds;
* ability to coordinate services and connect families with appropriate community resources and support systems;
* ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive student and family information in accordance with district, state, and federal regulations;
* strong organizational and case coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and follow-up actions;
* ability to collect, maintain, and monitor service documentation and basic student support data.
* ability to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, social workers, and other support personnel to address student and family needs.
* ability to plan and support family engagement events, workshops, and outreach activities.
Performance responsibilities:
* serves as a liaison between families, schools, and community agencies;
* coordinates access to academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and wellness resources for pre-k students and families;
* develops and maintains partnerships with community organizations, agencies, and service providers;
* supports families with referrals for housing, food security, healthcare, counseling, mental health services, and other basic needs;
* collaborates with administrators, teachers, social workers, and support staff to identify student and family needs;
* helps implement family engagement initiatives, workshops, and support programs;
* supports attendance, engagement, and student readiness initiatives;
* assists with crisis response and family support planning when needed;
* provides culturally responsive support services to families;
* supports transition services for students entering and exiting pre-k programs;
* maintains accurate documentation and records of services provided;
* performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
