Job SummaryThe Lecturer’s primary focus is teaching undergraduate biological science classes—including general biology (majors and non‑majors), anatomy & physiology 1 & 2, microbiology, and other courses as directed by the department chair—with a standard teaching load of fifteen (15) credit hours per semester.
Responsibilities- Teach introductory and advanced level courses, preparing and delivering lectures in face‑to‑face and online environments, leading and moderating classroom discussions, and administering and grading examinations.
- Demonstrate excellence in teaching and have a commitment to integrating new technologies into the learning process.
- Advise and mentor students and participate in campus events.
- Post daily office hours available for student advisement.
- Assume committee leadership tasks within the Department and College.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master's degree in Biology or a related STEM field with at least 18 credit hours in biology.
- 6 months to 1 year of collegiate teaching experience.
- Doctorate in Biology or related field preferred.
- Expertise in human anatomy & physiology or principles of biology.
Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

- Knowledge and experience of teaching, mentoring, and assessing biology students at the undergraduate level.
- Skill at advising and mentoring students.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to design, develop, and deliver course content in in‑person, virtual, and hybrid modalities.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and empower students to success.
- All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a background check review before starting with Albany State University.
