The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region Highways and Aviation is looking for an Equipment Operator Lead Journey 3 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

• Maintain state highways, airports (including a Category III FAA Part 139 airport), bridges, seaplane bases, and related infrastructure year‑round.
• Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as plow trucks, graders, loaders, sweepers, blowers, and Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicles.
• Perform snow and ice control, pavement repair, sweeping, striping, ditching, brushing, drainage work, and installation or repair of roadway and airport components.
• Conduct ARFF duties, runway inspections, friction testing, wildlife hazard management, and airport security inspections in compliance with FAA and ASP requirements.
• Complete required documentation and reports, including timesheets, work logs, inspection forms, and wildlife tracking.

This is a full‑time position located in Cordova, Alaska, within the Valdez District. Expect a dynamic, fast‑paced environment with varied responsibilities and conditions. You’ll work independently and as part of a team, often in challenging weather or terrain. Shift work and emergency responses are part of the role, and safety is a priority.
