Location: Deadhorse
Overview
Monitors and operates all equipment and materials for natural gas processing, NGL production, and gas re-injection systems. This includes all associated surface equipment including pumps, natural gas compressors, valves, tanks, and other vessels, to maintain a safe work environment for the company.
EssentialJob Responsibilities
- Inspects equipment for safety problems, leaks, or wear and tear. Troubleshoots process and/or equipment malfunctions for recommendations on repair options.
- Generates proper repair requests for malfunctioning or failed process or safety equipment.
- Procures necessary materials and supplies to complete daily tasks.
- Completes various daily equipment and process readings, flare reports, tank inspections, and safety equipment inspections.
- Maintains a logbook with pertinent notes concerning process status with any adjustments, and other facility area information to communicate across work shifts.
- Implements company’s SPCC (Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures Plan) as needed.
- Develops and implements Process Isolation Plans, using OSHA standard LOTO Protocol.
- Inspects pipelines, valves, and flanges to detect malfunctions, such as loose connections and leaks.
- Uses proper techniques for making up and/or tightening piping and equipment connections including flanges, threaded pipe, and various types of compression fittings.
- Operates a standard 4-gas, atmospheric gas detector/monitor as needed.
- Familiarizes with and uses a process Distributed Control System (e.g., IP-21) for process controls including opening/closing valves, starting/stopping process equipment, and adjusting process control schemes.
- Starts and stops process equipment including Gas Fired Turbine Compressors and other process systems, following the facility’s SOPs and emergency procedures.
- Monitors and helps maintain the Fire & Gas Safety Systems, including Gas Detectors, Fire Indicators, Halon, and Fire Water Distribution systems.
- Monitors and responds to the facility Fire and Gas, and Process alarms throughout the shift.
- Demonstrates ability to read, understand, and use process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).

- Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).

- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Participates on emergency response team for location.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- Five (5) years minimum oilfield experience.
- Ability to work a fourteen (14) day on and fourteen (14) day off 12 hour shift work schedule.
- Requires less supervision in the performance of routine duties.
- Demonstrates understanding of how the various parts of the Gas Processing and Reinjection Facilities work, and how this process integrates into the North Slope Production Scheme.
- Demonstrates the ability to work unsupervised, anticipate problems, and correct before they occur or affect other parts of the facility.
- Demonstrates the ability to routinely operate the facility unsupervised while maintaining safe, environmentally sound conditions and keeping accurate records of operations.
- Demonstrates the ability to direct and train other employees of lower rank and/or experience.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage simultaneous activities and respond to non-standard conditions by notifying supervisory staff and offering recommendations.
- Basic math and mechanical skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work in Arctic conditions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
- Ability to consider safety in all decisions.
- Experience on the North Slope, Alaska is preferred.
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, or any equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating sufficient knowledge, ability and skill to handle the duties and responsibilities of the position.
