Job Objective
Monitors and operates wells and associated surface equipment including pumps, pumping units, valves, tanks, and other vessels, and helps maintain a safe work environment for the company.
EssentialJob Responsibilities
- This is a represented position with the USW 4959.
- Shut‑in and bring on wells as needed.
- Responsible for 2 or more pads on a shift.
- Ability to oversee and approve work on prescribed well pad(s).
- Proficient in permit‑to‑work procedures.
- Familiar with the ASH book requirements.
- Inspect equipment for safety problems, leaks, or wear and tear, and make or recommend appropriate repairs.
- Creates work orders for repairs identified.
- Procures necessary materials and supplies to complete daily tasks.
- Work safely and follow company safe work procedures.
- Work in harsh Arctic slope conditions (high winds and low visibility).
- Drive a ¾‑ton pick‑up throughout the field in potentially adverse conditions.
- Hook up, back, and pull trailers.
- Retrieve spin‑outs on WCs as needed.
- Complete other daily records as required.
- Implement the company’s “Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures Plan” (SPCC).
- Report leaks or defective equipment, wellheads, and flowlines to supervisor.
- Tighten loose connections and service equipment as needed.
- Inspect pipelines, valves, and flanges to detect malfunctions such as loose connections and leaks.
- Accountable for all personnel on the pad(s) at all times.
- Monitor meter and pressure readings as needed.
- Record readings and test results, including daily rounds.
- Open and shut valves to regulate flow of oil into and out of manifold buildings.
- Shut down equipment following supervisor’s instructions in case of an emergency.
- Respond to emergency situations.
- Monitor and respond to alarms as needed while on shift.
- Work well with Production Control Center to operate and respond to situations in the field.

- Willingness to take direction from front‑line supervision.
Job Responsibilities
- Be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).
- Maintain employee confidence and protect company assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Encourage participation on emergency response team for location.
- Two (2) years minimum oilfield experience.
- Work a fourteen (14)‑day on and fourteen (14)‑day off 12‑hour shift work schedule.
- Requires less supervision in the performance of routine duties.
- Demonstrates increasing degrees of understanding how the various parts of the oil/gas facility/plant work together (from wells through production facilities to oil and gas sales lines).
- Demonstrates an increased ability to work unsupervised, act upon acquired knowledge of how the facilities function, anticipate and correct problems before they occur or before other parts of the facility are affected.
- Demonstrates the ability to routinely operate the field unsupervised while maintaining everything in a safe, environmentally sound condition and maintaining neat and accurate records of the operations.
- Demonstrates the ability to direct the work of and train other employees of lower rank and/or experience.
- Demonstrates the ability and willingness to remain aware of and direct the whole scope of simultaneous activities at the job site on a routine basis.
- Demonstrates the ability to recognize when non‑standard or non‑routine conditions exist in the field, notify supervisory staff, and offer recommendations for solutions to the problem.
- Basic mathematics and mechanical skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work in Arctic conditions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
- Ability to consider safety in all decisions.
- Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent or any equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating sufficient knowledge, ability and skill to handle the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Valid state driver’s license.
