Position: AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC with Security Clearance
Location: Hoonah

Duties The primary purpose of this position is:
To serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) to test, troubleshoot, repair and modify aircraft fuel distribution systems, repair leaks of external/integrated tanks, and provide training to reservists in the accomplishment of tasks set forth therein. DUTIES: DUTY 1:
Receives work document(s) or oral instructions regarding problem with aircraft fuel system. By applying external power source(s) or during run-up of aircraft observes gauges, meters, and other indicators on test equipment or in aircraft to determine flow or quantity of fuel through the various components of the fuel system. Visually inspects aircraft for leaks while under simulated operation. DUTY 2:
Troubleshoots integral fuel tanks, using leak path analysis and other test procedures such as pressure checks, vacuum checks, dye injection checks, helium and argon gas checks, etc., to determine the source of fuel leaks. After the tank has been detected, conducts purging operation using approved equipment. Uses combustible and toxic gas indicators to determine if the tank atmosphere is safe to enter for repair operations.

DUTY 3:
Troubleshoots fuel cells to determine location of leaks. After defueling, removes tank access door and conducts purging operation using approved equipment. Uses combustible and toxic gas indicators to confirm safe atmosphere prior to cell entry. Removes trapped fuel using sponges. Removes plumbing, cell connectors, laces and installation bolts to collapse cell. DUTY 4:
Accomplishes modifications and prepares components for storage or shipment. Reads, studies, analyzes and interprets technical orders, wiring diagrams, schematics, maintenance, and procedural directives, as appropriate. As authorized and directed, inspects maintenance repairs and signs off red cross symbols and makes entries in appropriate records and forms. DUTY 5:
In performing duties uses a variety of common hand tools, combustible and toxic gas indicators, torque wrenches, leak detectors, pressure gauges, manometers, powered tools such as drills and pneumatic wrenches; also, operates AGE such as blowers, filters, vacuum cleaners, heaters, air conditioners, fire extinguishers, etc. Ensures tools are properly marked, calibrated (if necessary), and are secured when area is unattended.

Prepares effective training plans to maximize Reserve training. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area. Requirements Conditions of employment
