Summary
A Retail Store Manager is responsible for assisting the Director in managing the site’s retail operations, which includes overseeing sales, staff, and inventory. The following are among the duties and responsibilities:
- Supervise, train and assist employees like Retail Store Clerks and stocker in customer service, store maintenance and product knowledge.
- Develop and maintain a schedule for employees to insure excellent customer service and sales coverage. Work with Director on establishing daily production priorities.
- Maintain proper inventory levels, ensure stocking, assist in implementing purchasing plans and assist with maintaining contact with suppliers to ensure maximum efficiency in meeting revenue goals.
- Maintain and correct input in Point of Sale and inventory database.
- Create and maintain point of sale signage.
- Manage all controllable costs with a view to maintaining profitability.
- Ensure the store always remains safe,clean and presentable.
- Assist on the floor as a stocker, or retail sales as required for breaks.
- Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
- Extensive knowledge of retail software and operations management.
- Ability to interpret financial data as needed to set goals.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or related leadership experience preferred.
- Five years of related experience required.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking over 5 miles a day with climbing stairs multiple times a day.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds at times.
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Ability to work in an unheated building.
- Willing to live in a remote, rural community
- Comfortable traveling by small plane or ferry to and from a remote setting
- Able to walk and/or drive on gravel roads in inclement weather
- Ability to obtain certification to drive company forklift. Training provided.
- In Season, the hours can be extended and overnight stocking at times is needed.
