Anticipated Hours Per Week5 to 15 during school year, 25 to 40 during summer
ScheduleAcademic Year
- Flexible Scheduling based on your academic availability and operational need
- 5 hours a week required, 10-15 hours per week preferred
- Shifts are a minimum of 2 hours
- Shifts available between 7:30am-4:00pm Monday-Friday, some evening and weekend hours as operationally needed
Summer
- 25-40 hours per week, positions based on availability & operational need, flexible scheduling options may be available, schedule will be set upon hire
- Shifts available 7:30AM-4:30PM Monday-Friday, some overtime may be available on weekends
- Academic year hours may be available depending on operational need
- Seasonal:This position is considered seasonal during the summer months in regards to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Hours worked may exceed 30 hours/week during the summer months

Position Summary/Job DutiesStudent Move Crew will be providing professional and timely move services for small projects within University Housing. They will also be responsible for maintaining the organization of various storage areas under the Interior Designer. Additional tasks may be required to support other functioning areas of Residence Hall Facilities dependent on operational need.
- Physically lifting, transporting and placing University Housing furniture items carefully from one location to another
- Take apart furniture to facilitate movement and reassemble at new location.
- Organizing and inventorying furniture surplus in designated storage areas. Assisting with resident or staff room/office moves.
- Assisting the University Housing Facilities team with other projects as assigned.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of furniture (i.e. attach side rails).
- Entering inventory information and photos into database.
- Installing exterior sign frames as needed.
- Assisting Building Services staff with time sensitive projects and tasks.
- Be professional and helpful at all times, communicate clearly and accurately, report building maintenance issues, follow-up with customers as needed.
- Assist Upholstery Shop with the transportation of large furniture repairs (i.e. full building resident room chairs, dining booths) and complete small repair work
- Assist with setup of apartments, resident rooms, office spaces between occupancy during summer turnovers
- Conduct inventory assessment and repair log for resident room furniture during summer months to prep for August occupancy
- Must be able to regularly move objects weighing approximately 50 lbs.
- Must be able to perform physical work for extended periods of time
- A valid unrestricted driver's license which meets UW Risk Management standards is preferred
- Familiarity with University Housing operation preferred
- Satisfactory results of a confidential criminal background check are required
