Registered Nurse

Dayshift and night shift positions available. Purpose of the Job

Coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional practice in the clinical setting. The registered professional nurse assigned to the Emergency Department (ED) is responsible for providing emergency room services. May be a member of the Medivac Transport Team.

The patient population ranges in ages from newborn to geriatric.

• A registered nurse with a current license in any US State or Territory; must become licensed in Alaska within one (1) year following hire.
• Must be able to maintain a professional standard of ethics at all times.
• Must observe confidentiality regulations as established by BBAHC Policy, State of Alaska and Federal Law.
• Prefer a minimum of two (2) years experience.
• Knowledge of native culture preferred and cultural sensitivity.
• Ability to initiate, coordinate and complete quality monitoring forms and submit reports to appropriate person.
• Must demonstrate knowledge principles of growth and development over the life span (e.g., pediatric/adult/geriatric) and possess the ability to access data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient/family requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed.
• Be able to travel to villages as necessary.
• Basic Life Support required.
• ACLS and PALs required to staff the Emergency Department.
• NRP desired for L&D staffing.
• TNCC preferred for Emergency Department staffing.
