A Commis Chef specializing in South Indian cuisine plays a vital role in a culinary team, focusing on authentic and traditional dish preparation while supporting the head chef and other kitchen staff. This position requires culinary expertise in South Indian flavors and techniques, with a keen understanding of regional ingredients and recipes. The Commis Chef will be responsible for preparing diverse South Indian dishes with a high level of quality and consistency.

Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and cooking of South Indian dishes and accompaniments.
Ensure all ingredients and materials are available and prepped prior to cooking.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen areas at all times.
Follow recipes and presentation standards to maintain food quality and consistency.
Help in the development and refinement of new South Indian recipes and menus.
Support head chefs with menu planning and food cost management tasks.
Collaborate with fellow kitchen staff to ensure seamless kitchen operations.
Adhere to all health, hygiene, and safety protocols in the kitchen environment.
Contribute to inventory management by monitoring stock levels of kitchen supplies.
Participate in regular staff meetings and training sessions as required.
Prepare and present dishes according to established culinary standards and guidelines.
Handle food storage and disposal properly to prevent waste and spoilage.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Commis Chef or similar role in South Indian cuisine.
Knowledge and expertise in South Indian cooking techniques and ingredients.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
High school diploma or equivalent qualification; culinary certification preferred.
Commitment to maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety practices.
Demonstrated passion for cooking and a desire to develop culinary skills further.
