OverviewCoaching position with required paperwork and ongoing responsibilities to manage a high school athletic program in coordination with the athletic director and principals.

3. Call (Marian Lara) to make an appointment for the Required Background Check and employment paperwork.
4. Complete The Following Required Courses
- Concussion, CPR/First Aid that can be accessed from NFHS Online. The CPR/First Aid fee will be reimbursed by the district. Please send a copy to the Athletic Director for processing.
- Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
- Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (major sports).
- The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
- The head coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.
The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals.
SupervisesHead coach advises, coordinates and supports a staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal.
Job GoalTo instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for individual and team success, and to promote character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes. The coach should upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation.
GeneralThe success of athletic programs influences the community image; the role carries public exposure and expectations for good sportsmanship and mental health, while maintaining safety and integrity. The job may involve extended time, risk of injury, and due process considerations. In areas not specifically covered, the coach should exercise common sense and good judgment.
Duties And Responsibilities- Has thorough knowledge of athletic policies approved by the school board and is responsible for their implementation by the entire staff of the sports program.
- Knows existing system, state and league regulations and implements them consistently.
- Establishes the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught; designs conferences, clinics and staff meetings to ensure staff awareness of the overall program.
- Trains and informs staff; encourages professional growth by supporting clinic attendance per local policy.
- Delegates duties, supervises implementation and evaluates staff effectiveness at season's end.
- Maintains discipline and morale; performs other duties assigned by the athletic director/principal.
- Assists the athletic director with scheduling, transportation and tournament requirements.
- Prepares for scheduled events and practices; coordinates with maintenance and school staff; provides documentation for eligibility and safety compliance.
- Ensures proper safeguards for equipment and facilities; recommends program policy or procedural changes.
- Serves as a mentor to promote character development and trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
- Monitors athletes’ grades and conduct; provides guidance during practices and travel; communicates policies to athletes.
- Implements training rules and regulations for participants; handles injuries, medical attention and emergencies; completes injury paperwork within 24 hours.
- Directs student managers, assistants and statisticians; handles discipline and communicates with parents as needed.
- Participates in budgeting with the athletic director; establishes equipment guidelines and ensures budget compliance.
- Accounts for all equipment; issues, stores and maintains inventory; marks equipment; monitors equipment rooms and coaches’ offices.
- Ensures athletes access only authorized areas; inspects facilities; emphasizes care of equipment and property.
- Organizes preseason meetings with parents, coaches and players; promotes the sport within and outside the school.
- Communicates with media and booster clubs; maintains good relations with officials, volunteers and fans; provides schedules and results to media.
