SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL COUNSELOR Definition

The staff member will recognize the warning signs of various mental health disorders in students, assess the risk of, intervene in, respond to, and prevent youth suicidal behavior. They will provide direct services to students, school staff, and work collaboratively with community service and long‑term therapy providers, supporting the social/emotional needs of high school students in their personal development to support the learning process.

• The individual must be appropriately certified and/or licensed as a Licensed Practicing Counselor (LPC) with a DORA license or a Licensed Social Worker.
• Experience in mediation and small group counseling to address social/emotional issues.
• Strong knowledge of ethics.
