AHS Business Teacher & FBLA sponsor

Responsible for providing instruction in areas such as labor relations, personal finance, accounting, the stock market, the economy, human resources, business operations and other courses as assigned. FBLA and CTE programming are essential to this position. Teacher will also serve as FBLA sponsor and will be compensated for time outside of the teaching contract required to fulfill FBLA sponsor duties.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Deliver instruction on topics such as the principles of marketing, how to operate a business, and the financial aspects of business.
  • Improve students' knowledge of business practices, accounting, etc..
  • Teach business topics such as basic economics, resume writing, facts about business careers, accounting, computers, the stock market and finance.
  • Deliver the skills and knowledge necessary for students to function as responsible citizens in the business world.
  • Grade student work and post grades in a timely manner and perform other administrative duties as needed.
  • Create projects and student assignments designed to enhance lectures.
  • Read and stay abreast of current topics in business.
  • Create lesson plans, implement effective instruction and assessment of learning.
  • Assist students with work-based learning, internships, and completing certificates per individual goals
  • Utilize a variety of curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
  • Develop professional relationships with other agencies and programs.
  • Communicate with students & parents regarding progress, behavior, etc.
  • Meet with colleagues to address district and building needs
  • Serve as FBLA sponsor, organize and supervise FBLA events, promote student involvement & leadership, attend FBLA events & competitions with students
  • Meet CTE requirements to promote a variety of pathways to graduation
Requirements

Applicants must hold a current CO teaching license or CTE certificate or are pursuing alternative licensure in the area of business education or related content area.

Preferred
  • Teaching experience, sponsorship experience
  • MA or MS in Business
  • Bilingual
Terms Of Employment
  • Number of teacher days assigned annually
  • Salary per ASD Master Agreement
  • FBLA sponsor stipend in addition to teaching contract
Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy and procedure for evaluation of certified/licensed staff.
