Help New Mexico (HELPNM) was created in 1965 by the interdenominational New Mexico Council of Churches to support education in their community. Today, their legacy and impact carry on through HELPNM’s work as a fully‑owned subsidiary of CPLC. The Office of Learning and Academic Opportunity (OLAO) provides services to children and families from birth to eight years of age. Our priority is to provide general services related to families in the areas of education, health and social/behavioral development.

OLAO also provides an intentional, coordinated approach to strengthening the family unit and combines programming for children and adults in order to build strong and stable families.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?
  • You will be responsible for the overall health, safety, nurturing and quality of care and education for preschool children; 3-5 years of age enrolled in the program.
  • You will plan, prepare, and develop classroom curriculum; and interact with children in activities to promote social, physical, and cognitive growth appropriate to the children’s developmental stages.
  • You will ensure all activities and interactions will be in conformance with all federal, state, and local regulations, standards, policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • You are conscientious and caring and can respond quickly in a soothing manner to children’s needs.
  • You are a creative individual who can plan and interact with children in activities to promote motor, language, social, cognitive perceptual and emotional growth.
  • You are an effective communicator and can maintain an open, friendly, and cooperative relationship with each child and family.
Minimum Qualifications And Competencies
  • High School or GED
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field or Minimum of Child Development Associate (CDA) or New Mexico Child Development Certificate or willing to work towards requirements within a specific timeframe identified by the program.
  • Minimum of 1-2-years’ experience working with young children in an early childhood setting or a public‑school setting at a grade level no higher than elementary school.
  • First Aid/CPR Certified or willing to obtain within the first 6‑months of employment is required.
  • Health Determination/TB Skin Test and Fingerprint Background Check prior to employment.
  • Bilingual ability (Spanish/English) is preferred.

Driver’s License/Proof of Insurance:
Maintain a current New Mexico driver’s license, an insurable driving record, and provide proof of current liability insurance meeting or exceeding State‑required minimum coverage is required for this position.
