Lab Technician

Overview

Sylvatex is hiring for a Lab Technician to support the development of new cathode processing techniques for Li-ion battery testing. The role reports to the Director of Research and Development. You will operate in a fast-paced startup environment, with curiosity and optimism, and a focus on environmentally impactful clean energy solutions.

• Run and maintain processing equipment associated with material production (e.g., kilns, mills)
• Create robust documentation (e.g., batch records, SOPs, reports) and preventative maintenance plans
• Coordinate with researchers to execute and document experimental runs
• Prepare electrodes for battery cell assembly and support electrochemical testing
• Maintain clean and well-organized lab areas that meet safety regulations
• Support the commissioning of incoming equipment and document equipment/processes with engineers

• High school diploma or higher
• R&D experience in an industry setting is a plus
• Ability to multitask and liaise with professionals in different fields
• Proficiency in MS Office or similar
• Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
• Ability to follow health and safety regulations

Full-time hourly role in our labs in Alameda, CA, and at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Must have reliable transportation to visit the Berkeley lab frequently.
