Manager, Data Analytics

Organization: Oakland Roots Sports Club

Location: Oakland, CA

Reports to: Senior Director of Ticket Sales Operations and Business Intelligence

Compensation: $75,000 - $90,000

Oakland Roots Sports Club is a professional soccer team which competes in the USL Championship (USL‑C), and Oakland Soul is a pre‑professional team in the USL W League. The Manager, Data Analytics reports to the Senior Director of Ticket Sales Operations and Business Intelligence and transforms data into actionable insights that drive revenue growth and operational excellence across ticket sales, merchandise, sponsorship and marketing.

Responsibilities
  • Data Analytics, Reporting & Strategic Planning
    • Develop sophisticated pricing models and predictive sales and revenue modeling for ticket sales, merchandise, and sponsorship by correlating complex year‑over‑year data with variable structures, seasonality patterns, and external market factors
    • Build robust analytical frameworks that harmonize evolving historical data—accommodating changes in product offerings, categorizations, and business structures—to enable accurate trend analysis and forecasting
    • Create and maintain dashboards tracking key metrics for ticket sales, merchandise, sponsorship and marketing, including pipeline health, conversion rates, revenue generation, renewals, and new partnership development
    • Provide real‑time sales pacing, insights and analytics to support the Director of Ticket Sales, the Senior Vice President of Brand Partnerships, and all other revenue generating projects as assigned
    • Generate targeted call lists and directional outreach plans for the ticket sales team based on customer segmentation, purchase patterns, and conversion likelihood to support theme‑based campaigns that optimize lead generation
    • Identify data gaps and proactively recommend acquisition strategies and solutions to ensure complete targeting capabilities for high‑priority sales initiatives
    • Analyze revenue trends to identify growth opportunities and proactively surface actionable insights that anticipate business needs
    • Translate complex data into clear narratives and visualizations for executive decision‑making, ensuring accuracy and reliability of all analytical outputs
    • Accountable for the accuracy of data and analytical conclusions
  • Technology & Systems Management
    • Oversee CRM system setup, maintenance, optimization, and data collection, ensuring data quality, integrity, and governance across all systems
    • Design and implement data validation protocols and automated quality checks to maintain analytical accuracy
    • Build and maintain automated dashboards and reports for ticket sales, merchandise, sponsorship, and marketing
    • Integrate data from multiple sources (ticketing, digital, POS, social media) into unified analytics frameworks using business intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI, data lakes, etc.)
    • Lead evaluation and implementation of emerging analytics technologies
    • Assist gameday ticket operations with system updates, access control configuration, and reporting processes, including testing and issue resolution to maintain smooth operational performance
    • Miscellaneous duties as assigned by leadership
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business, or related field required;
    Master's degree preferred
  • Prior experience in data analytics or business intelligence roles with a demonstrable track record of analytical accuracy and impact on business outcomes
  • Proven experience in harmonizing year‑over‑year datasets across evolving product lines and business structures to develop reliable prediction models
  • Advanced SQL proficiency and experience with Python or R required
  • Strong expertise in data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) required
  • Hands‑on experience with CRM platforms;
    Salesforce strongly preferred
