Bay Language Academy is expanding and is seeking more part‑time aspiring Chinese‑Mandarin instructors/teachers. Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. and be physically present in the area at the time of interview for an on‑site teaching position.

Chinese‑Mandarin Teacher Responsibilities
  • Teach a range of levels within several small group settings
  • Implement TPRS, songs, art, among others
  • Implement a sequence curriculum that includes all four pillars of language learning: listening, speaking, reading, writing, presentation and intercultural knowledge
  • Facilitate positive classroom management strategies
  • Use developmentally appropriate technology relevant to teaching languages
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues as a team
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Location and Schedule
  • Classes held in Alameda and possibly around the Bay area
  • Adult classes variable (late morning and/or evenings)
  • Young students classes in the afternoon; some adult classes in evening and/or mornings depending on days and languages
  • Flexible schedule, 3–5 days a week
  • Periodic training and staff meetings with the Director
Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to handle multiple priorities and resolve challenges creatively
  • Fingerprint and Live Scan FBI & DOJ background check cleared
  • Negative TB‑test result
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Problem‑solving skills and positive work ethics
  • Responsible for day‑to‑day operation of program at the Academy
  • Bilingual or trilingual individuals (plus)
  • Background in education and prior teaching experience (Bachelor’s or Master’s in education or related field, or passion for interacting with youth)
  • Experience in traditional or non‑traditional settings
  • Strong classroom management skills
