Summary
With Exelixis' continued growth and rapidly advancing pipeline, the Senior Manager, Commercial Strategy and Planning (New Product Planning) role reports to the Senior Director, Commercial Strategy and Planning and contributes to cross‑functional initiatives to advance Exelixis' pipeline assets. The position provides critical information and advice to Exelixis leadership.
Responsibilities- Primarily responsible for driving pipeline commercial analysis and strategic planning activities, focusing on the growing Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC) pipeline.
- Work cross‑functionally with Commercial, Clinical Development, Translational Medicine, Medical Affairs, Discovery, and Finance functions to generate defensible recommendations.
- Drive data‑ and insight‑driven commercial analyses to support pipeline strategy, including indication prioritization, combination planning, lifecycle management, and fast‑to‑market planning.
- Lead Target Product Profile (TPP) development and refinement.
- Provide commercial assessment of pipeline development opportunities, including market attractiveness, unmet need, and competitive dynamics.
- Plan and execute primary and secondary market research to support commercial opportunity assessment and revenue forecast assumptions, as needed.
- Develop patient‑based revenue forecasts for potential indications to support business planning.
- Deep dive assessments of companies and relevant marketed products and pipeline, including revenue forecasts, company financial analyses, disease and competitive landscapes, and market access and pricing insights.
- Provide comprehensive competitive intelligence to inform pipeline strategy and competitive positioning.
No supervisory responsibilities.
Education and Experience- BS/BA degree in a related discipline and 5 years of related experience; or
- Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in a related discipline and 3 years of related experience; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in scientific and clinical literature analysis, enabling quick assessment of clinical data and oncology markets.
- Strong foundation in patient‑based forecasting and quantitative modeling methodologies.
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative primary research methods.
- Demonstrates strong collaboration skills and ability to be a strategic thought partner.
- Ability to navigate uncertainty and apply structured thinking and decision‑making frameworks to complex business questions.
- Ability to influence without authority and to clearly represent the commercial perspective to Clinical Development, Discovery, Translational Medicine, and other functional partners.
- Ability to effectively balance multiple priorities under pressure; understands when to right‑size, where appropriate.
- Effective presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and problem‑solving skills.
The office is a modern, open‑plan space that fosters collaborations and creativity. Teams work closely together, sharing ideas and solutions in a supportive atmosphere. The office provides all necessary equipment, including dual monitors and ergonomic chairs, to ensure a comfortable workspace. 10% travel required.
Compensation and BenefitsBase salary range: $160,000 – $227,000 annually, adjusted for geographic region. The total rewards program includes a 401(k) plan with generous company contributions, group medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, a discretionary annual bonus program, stock purchase and long‑term incentive options, 15 accrued vacation days in the first year, 17 paid holidays, a company‑wide winter shutdown in December, and up to 10 sick days throughout the calendar year.
