ResponsibilitiesUnder general direction of the Legal Support Supervisor, the Office Technician (Typing) (OT [T]) performs a variety of general office, clerical, administrative and organizational tasks for the support of attorneys and special investigators in the Department of Industrial Relations Office of the Director Legal Unit (OD Legal). OD Legal attorneys provide a variety of legal services to the Department of Industrial Relations, including in administrative and civil litigation.
The Legal Unit also represents the Director of the Department of Industrial Relations in workers' compensations cases involving the Uninsured Employers Benefits Trust Fund (UEBTF), Subsequent Injuries Benefits Trust Fund (SIBTF), and Death Without Dependents Unit (DWD).

This position is located at: 1515 Clay St, Suite 701, Oakland, CA 94612.
This is a full-time position located in the Department of Industrial Relations, Office of the Director, Legal Unit (known as “OD Legal”). The Office Technician in this position works in an office environment in a cubicle at the front of the office suite. The ability to use a computer, telephone, and other office equipment such as copiers and scanners is necessary.
The position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time and to work at a computer for extended periods of time and to move and transport office items in a safe manner.
This is a full-time, permanent position. The hours are usual business hours Monday through Friday. Employees in this position are expected to work all hours as necessary to accomplish their assignments.
Special Requirements- The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests is available at the website.
- This position requires the incumbent to perform sustained typing of at least 40 words per minute. Typing certificate – 40 WPM typing certificate issued within the last four (4) years and certified from a five (5) minute typing test.
