Location: Sylvan Springs

Amwaste of Georgia is looking for a dispatcher to work out of its Sylvan Springs, AL location. As an Amwaste Dispatcher you will serve as the hub for drivers, customers, operations management, and customer service to effectively communicate and provide the highest level of service.

Key Duties
  • Handling incoming service orders, directing drivers, and resolving service issues.
  • Assisting with problem resolution for multiple lines of business:
    Roll Off, Commercial Frontload, and Transfer Station trucks.
  • Interacting with customers and sales staff.

The shift starts at 6:00 AM and the end time varies from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM depending on workload and personal time management skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Dispatch drivers to calls as they are received, using information on customer needs, drivers’ locations and abilities, and daily factors to balance cost and speed of response.
  • Assist in determining daily driver staffing to provide the best mix of responsiveness and productivity.
  • Assign routes and service tickets to appropriate drivers throughout the day and for the next day, and close service tickets each day.
  • Handle incoming calls and e‑mails from customers and the sales department; manage requests for pick‑up or container delivery and ensure our service guarantees.
  • Initiate outbound calls to customers while drivers are on‑site/location, resolving pick‑up and other issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve potential delivery and pick‑up problems before they result in service issues.
  • Record and document information from drivers and distribute to appropriate departments.
  • Communicate with maintenance shop personnel and the Operations Manager to resolve equipment and driver issues.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or GED (accredited).
  • Experience:

    Must have experience working in a team setting with the ability to communicate to several areas effectively. Must be able to engage in a high‑speed intense environment.
  • Experience with fast‑paced decision making and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and without constant supervision.
  • Understanding of how to meet goals and expectations consistently.
  • Preferred experience in transportation, logistics, waste collection, customer service, or a role requiring decision making and critical thinking.
Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
  • Computer skills with the ability to handle multiple programs and systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally via e‑mail and telephone.
