SUMMARY
The Receiver I is responsible for verifying delivered items, unloading trucks, and ensuring items are stored correctly. The Receiver I verifies deliveries with great attention to detail and ensures efficient receiving processes and promptly resolves any problems or discrepancies.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Receive goods using RF scanners; verify the quantity and count of items unloaded from trucks and trailers.
- Validate supplier counts and immediately report discrepancies to carriers and the supervisor per company policy.
- Compare purchase orders with invoices and packaging lists.
- Inspect deliveries to ensure they match order and invoice criteria.
- Receive and sign for deliveries.
- Unload deliveries from trucks.
- Report damaged merchandise to the supervisor.
- Organize and store received items in appropriate areas.
- Update inventory with received items.
- Communicate with vendors regarding delays or problems.
- Maintain records of orders, delivery details, etc.
- Process all receiving transactions and paperwork.
- Inspect all incoming freight for damages.
- Assist in maintaining material inventory levels.
- Assist in responses to requests for tracing of missing shipments.
- Assist in maintaining safety and housekeeping standards in the shipping area.
- Perform required administrative tasks; prepare all required reports and correspondence.
- Follow company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement.
- Follow safety guidelines and procedures in accordance with the job.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent specific experience. - Minimum 1–2 years experience or equivalent.
- Basic proficiency experience in RF scanner and WMS system.
- Basic to intermediate familiarity with shipping and receiving practices and handling methods.
- Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.
- Basic understanding of safety requirements for lifting and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers). The employee may also be required to execute non‑standard physical activities (climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch). Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
