Position: Central Utilities Technician
Location: Calvert

Overview

We are seeking a Central Utilities Maintenance Technician to be part of our team in Calvert, North Mobile County, AL.

Objective: To assist in maintaining the entire plant site utilities and facilities, including HVAC, compressed air, boilers, RO water production plant, ammonia system, cooling towers, natural gas odorant injection station, sanitary sewer lift stations, building structure, and building plumbing with a prioritization of safety, compliance, quality, profit, communication, development, and presentation.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma
  • Manufacturing industry experience working with HVAC, air compressor, buildings, boilers, ammonia, RO Water production, and/or utilities experience
  • Preference given to those with a refrigerant handling certification
Job Responsibilities

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following equipment and/or tasks. Daily operations and maintenance of the CRW and MS Utilities including:

  • Compressed air systems at the CRW and Melt Shop
  • Cooling Towers
  • Boilers
  • Ammonia system
  • RO Water production plant
  • Water Softener System Skid
  • Natural Gas Odorant Injection Station
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of Boilers and their components in the CRW
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of the CRW RO Water Production Plant
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of all Compressed Air Equipment
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of all Anhydrous Ammonia Equipment
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of all Cooling Towers and components
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of the Natural Gas Odorant Injection Station
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of Sanitary Sewer Lift stations and their components
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of all HVAC equipment
  • Troubleshoot all HVAC equipment
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of all buildings and utilities equipment
  • Underground utilities piping throughout entire site
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of plumbing and plumbing fixtures
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of rolling doors
  • Read and understand piping drawings
Physical requirements
  • Ability to utilize personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toes shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.) safely per OSHA standards
  • Must have the ability to climb in a safe manner (climbing as a minimum includes stairs and ramps) same as ability to walk long distances and demonstrate good balance on uneven terrain or maneuvering obstacles
  • Ability to withstand exposure to elevated ambient temperature for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat
  • Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, vibrations, dust and asphalt
  • Must be able to work in a high noise environment where the use of hearing protection is required
  • Ability to frequently use hand or fingers to handle or feel objects/materials
  • Ability to work in areas with strong magnetic fields
  • Bend, twist, lift, stand, walk, reach, see, move, and hear as required by specific position
  • Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to communicate utilizing radios, phones and/or intercom systems
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. utilizing proper lifting techniques
  • Ability to safely use power and hand tools

Salary: 35.13 hr
