The hours and location you’ll work in as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic III with WM:

• Monday – Friday every week
• 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• Possible weekends (As Needed)
• Our Landfill site in Emelle, AL

Responsibilities:

• Repair equipment including bulldozers, scrapers, backhoes, front‑end loaders, yard trucks, farm tractors, forklifts, and company cars.
• Diagnose and repair differentials, hydraulic systems, motors, transmissions, drives, air‑conditioning systems, and electrical systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance as set out by the site checklist.
• Paperwork and admin tasks such as work orders, card files, P.M. checklists, and oil samples.
• Service and maintain other equipment such as light plants, water pumps, welders, and other equipment.
• Reference site‑specific procedures and other detailed site‑specific job descriptions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• 6 years of maintenance mechanic experience on heavy equipment.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Over 18 years of age.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Successfully complete and pass pre‑employment drug screen and physical.
• Annual Pulmonary Function Test (PFT), Audiogram and Respirator Fit Test.

Work environment and physical demands:

• Exert frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and climbing; constantly standing, walking, and grasping; occasionally sitting and balancing.
• Exposed to physical occupational risks such as cuts, burns, and exposure to toxic chemicals on a frequent basis.
• Exposed to physical environment with dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements on a frequent basis.
• Job operates in both indoor garage, shop or gas plant conditions and in outdoor conditions including inclement weather, heat and humidity.

PPE:

• Respirators – full‑face OV/AG or half‑face with face shield; full‑face supplied air in some arrears.
• Barrier suit including yellow Tyvek with sleeves, apron, booties; solid white Tyvek.
• Gloves appropriate to hazards present (PVC over Nitrile or Butyl for liquid waste; Leather/Cloth for solid waste).
• Overshoes, vinyl booties, waterproof boots, chemical‑resistant boots.
• Safety glasses, hard hats, steel‑toe shoes.
