Insulator Overview
Insulators install and replace the materials used to insulate buildings or mechanical systems.
Insulator Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Installs insulation on steam, hot water piping and fittings, and air conditioning ducts.
- Covers insulation on pipes with canvas and installs vapor barriers, waterproofing products, and metal protection sheets.
- Anchors insulation with pins, tie wires, metal bands, screws, and other fasteners.
- Measures, computes, and determines the correct type of insulation needed for the job.
- Adhere to all company safety/OSHA rules and regulations.
- The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.
- High school education or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year experience as an insulator.
- Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, methods, materials, and tools of the insulation trade.
- Must have the capability of understanding oral and written instructions, sketches, and diagrams.
- Bilingual communication is a plus.
- Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding, etc. up to 150 feet.
- Must have the ability to lift your whole body weight while climbing.
- Must be able to stand, bend, and kneel often in confined spaces.
- Must be able to tolerate temperature fluctuations, and a dusty/noisy work environment.
