Duties
* Monitors the overall security administration program for the organization. Provides guidance and assistance to supervisors and managers in the areas of physical, information, personnel and limited industrial security.
* Implements policies and procedures covering the safeguarding of classified information.
* Participates in Unit Security Managers meetings. Serves as unit security manager. Presents security material and feedback from experiences in the organization for sharing with other unit managers who may experience similar situations.
* Serves as Agency's equipment and supply officer.
* Implements unit security education and motivation programs. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance

* This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
* This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TOP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program
* Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
* Shift work and emergency overtime may be required
* Employee must maintain current certifications
* Disclosure of Political Appointments
* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.

Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED
EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes applied knowledge of commonly applied security principles, concepts, and methodologies in carrying out information, personnel, and physical security programs for the organization. Applied knowledge of the methods of performing such duties as conducting inspections and investigations, collecting and analyzing information, etc.,
and skill in weighing the impact of variables such as critical personnel qualifications, variations in building construction characteristics, access and entry restrictions, equipment availability, and other issues that influence the course of actions taken in resolving security questions and issues, applied knowledge of security classification methods, concepts, eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information and the process for granting personnel security clearances/accesses.

EDUCATION:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
