Security Officer II (Miller Plant) – Alabama Power Company

Uniformed armed security officer responsible for providing security for personnel and property at Miller Steam Plant, Quinton, AL.

• Controls access to plant site
• Monitors and operates electronic surveillance equipment
• Patrols plant site on foot and in vehicle
• Provides armed security service
• Participates in medical first responder teams (preferred)

• Minimum three years law enforcement, military police or private/industrial security experience
• Ability to use and maintain a firearm and pass annual qualifying tests
• Valid Alabama State pistol permit
• Basic computer skills (Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
• Ability to enforce plant security policies and procedures
• Work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays and inclement weather
• Pass background, physical, drug, alcohol and psychological screening

• Night shift patrol and inspection of company property for fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal activity
• Respond to calls for service
• Conduct preliminary investigations and write incident reports
• Operate electronic security equipment
• Enforce policies and procedures, directing others to patrol as needed
