Summary
The Manager in Training assists the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. The role ensures knowledge of each product area or department, supports achieving store goals and initiatives, upholds policies, procedures, and standards, promotes each sale and promotion, and serves as an ambassador of Hibbett to deliver a unique customer experience. In the Store Manager’s absence, the Manager in Training assumes supervisory control and is trained in the Store Manager's responsibilities.

- Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett.
- Consult with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to establish action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
- Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability across all departments.
- Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed.
- Keep the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
- Ensure quality customer service is maintained.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
- Produce and deliver extraordinary customer service as highlighted in the customer service manual, including assisting customers upon entry and during peak periods.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett.
- Practice and uphold all Hibbett City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as listed in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, customer service manual, and internal memos.
- Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring accurate internal control procedures and informing management of potential fraud risks.
- Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems.
- Experience in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1–3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Team‑player, passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
