The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the 5-Psych unit plays a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care within 5-PSYCH. This position is responsible for monitoring patients' mental and physical health, administering medications, and assisting in therapeutic activities. The LPN will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans that promote recovery and well-being. Additionally, the LPN will educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment options.

Ultimately, the goal of this role is to ensure a safe and supportive environment that fosters patient recovery and enhances their quality of life.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current LPN license in the state of practice.
  • Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or must obtain within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in psychiatric nursing or mental health settings.
  • Certification in Mental Health Nursing.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic communication techniques.
Responsibilities
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the healthcare provider.
  • Monitor and document patients' vital signs, behaviors, and overall health status.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized care plans.
  • Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Skills

The required skills for this position include strong clinical assessment abilities, effective communication skills, and time‑management abilities.
