Description
We are seeking an experienced Outside Machinist to join our growing Master Boat Builders team. The ideal candidate must be familiar with shipyard environments and have hands‑on experience working aboard vessels. This position is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining marine mechanical systems safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Install, align, troubleshoot, and repair shipboard mechanical equipment
- Work on pumps, valves, shafting, bearings, and auxiliary systems
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and shipyard work packages
- Perform precision measurements and equipment alignments
- Stick and tack weld as required for fabrication and repairs
- Work safely in confined spaces, aboard vessels, and in typical Gulf Coast weather conditions
- Collaborate with Foreman, welders, pipe fitters, and other trades to meet production schedules
- Previous experience as an Outside Machinist in a shipyard is preferred
- Must be familiar with shipyard safety standards and vessel repair processes
- Ability to stick weld and tack weld are required
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to pass a hands‑on Outfitters weld test is required;
Tools & PPE are required for this test.
