As a global leader in Stainless Steel, we're seeking a dynamic Entry Quality Inspector and be part of our Quality team in Calvert, North Mobile County, Alabama.

Purpose

To perform routine checks, tests, gauging and instrument inspections of materials, goods in process and finished good in Cold Roll Works.

Job Qualifications and Experience Requirements
  • Proven experience as quality inspector for product manufacturing or relevant role
  • Prior experience identifying damaged or defective products.
  • Experience with measuring devices such as meters, gauges, computers, calipers, and other measuring instruments
  • Knowledge use of equipment to ensure it is safe and well‑maintained and discard any that doesn’t meet requirements
  • Knowledge of quality control standards and testing methodologies
  • Dexterity typing skills
  • Available for working shift schedules (nights, days and holidays)
Job Responsibilities
  • By performing visual inspections for defects inspects and approves incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Communicates non‑conforming materials orally and in writing to affected team members including machine operators and leadership
  • Documents and maintains inspection records both electronically and in writing
  • Collaborates with Quality to recognize material defects and to relate to equipment failures
  • Properly follow the Company and OSHA safety and standard operating procedures
  • Support Operations as needed to meet business objectives
  • Approves finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests,
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, and complying with legal regulations.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat
  • Must have the ability to climb in a safe manner (climbing as a minimum includes stairs, ramps and ladders) same as ability to walk long distances and demonstrate good balance on uneven terrain or maneuvering obstacles
  • Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, vibrations and dust
  • Ability to withstand exposure to elevated ambient temperature for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work in a high noise environment where the use of hearing protection is required
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. utilizing proper lifting techniques
  • Ability to frequently use hand or fingers to handle or feel objects/materials
  • Ability to work in areas with strong magnetic fields
  • Bend, twist, lift, stand, walk, reach, see, move, and hear as required by specific position
  • Ability to frequently preform reaching tasks with hands and arms
  • Must be able to communicate utilizing radios, phones and/or intercom systems
  • Ability to safely use power and hand tools
  • Ability to safely operate powered industrial vehicles and equipment for tasks and diagnostic purposes, including overhead cranes.
  • Ability to utilize personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel‑toes shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.) safely per OSHA standards
