Technician Maintenance

Overview

Provides for the maintenance of the plant’s machinery, grounds, buildings and equipment and assists with the repairs of same. This is the second level position in the maintenance classification and is expected to perform the job functions under direct supervision.

Completes all daily paperwork and walk-through items and knows their importance.

May be required to go to different shifts for training or give training.

Provides maintenance support required to sustain continuous operation of packaging and processing equipment.

Performs Daily Preflight of any Production Line

Lubricates all machinery with the correct lubricants. Changes drive belts, timing belts and other parts on all machinery drive belts, timing belts and other parts on all machinery.

Identify problems before they result in a hazard or downtime situation.

Changes filters and oils in plant equipment.

Maintains refrigeration compressor and pump oils.

Identifies and replaces bearings and seals as required.

Maintains company standards for cleanliness, inspect all HVAC units in our plant, safety and productivity in the plant area.

Ensures compliance to quality, food safety and HAACP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.

Restarts the Lantech stretch wrapper machine.

Welds with a stick welder on mild steel & have ability to use other types of welders with various metals.

Change out and clean & inspect all of the HVAC units in our plant.

Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical problems on lift trucks.

Must be able to read PID drawings.

Able to operate a forklift/ pallet jack/ boom lift and scissor lift

Must be able to PM/set-up and troubleshoot an egg pump

Able to put a freezer tunnel in defrost and back to normal operation

Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned by Management

· 1-3 years prior maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

· Basic mechanical aptitude, basic math skills and ability to use basic gauges and measuring tools are required.

· High School Diploma or GED.

· Required to pass respiratory function & fit test.

Working Conditions/Environment:

Works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, lift, reach, grasp and bend while moving about the facility. Must be able to move 75 pounds a distance of 25 feet or more. Must be able to stand for an 8-hour shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks. May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.

The employee is regularly exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the plant is loud. Earplugs, safety glasses, beardnets (if facial hair exists), hairnets, and steel-toed / slip-resistant shoes are required in the plant in accordance with company GMP and safety standards. Must maintain a clean shaved face to facilitate wearing a Full Face Respirator.
