Job SummaryEMCOR Group, Inc. and its subsidiary Shambaugh & Son L.P. are a leading mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction contractor. We specialize in new and retrofit construction for industrial, food processing, commercial, institutional, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and bio‑fuel projects across the United States. Shambaugh & Son L.P. is seeking a Welder in our Fire Fabrication shop. In this position, you will use a universal welder to make cuts and welds on steel pipe and work with a semi‑automatic welding machine in various positions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Read blueprints and drawings.
- Take measurements to plan layouts.
- Set up welding machine according to specifications.
- Weld components using semi‑automatic welding equipment in various positions.
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
- Test all machine welds to ensure quality.
- Weld by hand any leaks found during quality penetration die test.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 4 plus years of welding experience.
- Read a tape measure.
- Pipe welding and welding certificates a plus.
- Be dependable.
- Good attendance and a positive attitude are critical for this position.
- Good work ethic and a willingness to learn.
- Must be able to communicate ideas, thoughts, etc. both verbally and in written form.
- Must be able to work Saturday (will count against attendance record if missed).Must be 18 years or older.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to follow directions and communicate with others.
- Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, and walk for 8‑12 hour shifts.
- Ability to pass a drug test.
- Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.
