As a member of the IT team, the Plant IT Manager will direct, plan, coordinate, and oversee all information technology activities at the Lear Tuscaloosa Campus in a just-in-time environment. Incumbents install computer systems, ensure backups operate effectively, procure hardware and software, develop the IT infrastructure, and perform administrative and supervisory duties in coordination with overall management of information/communication services.
Responsibilities- Directs the work of IT personnel to provide upkeep, maintenance, and security of networks and assigns and reviews their work.
- Manages all information systems and computing resources.
- Develops requirements, budgets, and schedules for IT projects and services.
- Schedules upgrades and security backups of hardware and software, disaster recovery operations, and ensures effectiveness of IT systems including antivirus, print services, and email.
- Ensures compliance with software licensing laws, secures remote access, and protects data.
- Manages crisis situations involving complex technical hardware or software problems.
- Mentors and trains new IT support staff and stays current on the latest technologies.
- Maintains and administers computer networks and related environments including hardware, systems software, applications software, and configurations.
- Monitors performance of computer systems and networks and coordinates access and use.
- Performs routine network startup/shutdown procedures and maintains control records.
- Approves changes to improve systems and network configurations and determines hardware or software requirements.
- Monitors network performance to determine adjustments and future changes needed.
- Monitors IT operations and complaints to evaluate effectiveness and address problems.
- Reviews department requests for equipment or services to ensure ongoing IT operations and compatibility.
- Evaluates employee performance and counsels on strengths and weaknesses.
- Assigns and prioritizes work to IT staff based on workload.
- Responds to help desk requests for difficult IT issues.
- Reviews correspondence, requisitions, purchase orders, and maintenance requests; approves or routes as needed.
- Consults with vendors or corporate representatives to define equipment or service needs.
- Develops and/or teaches training modules for users to assist them in deficit areas.
- Performs SOX monitoring and leads IT audits.
- BS degree in Information Systems or related field with six years of IT experience.
- At least 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
- Knowledge of the AS 400 operating system.
- Knowledge of databases such as People Soft, Kronos, JBA, etc., as needed for administrative oversight.
