Overview

Northwest Texas Healthcare System (NWTHS) is a 495‑bed system serving the city of Amarillo and the surrounding region. Emergency services are offered at three locations:
Northwest Emergency, Northwest Emergency at Town Square, and Northwest Emergency at Georgia.

Position Summary

The Director is responsible for the ongoing, effective operation of multiple nursing units. Responsibilities include managing internal processes of the department and integrating the units into the overall functioning of NWTHS. The Director supports an organizational culture of safety and Service Excellence and applies Service Excellence standards to all customer groups.

Provision of Services

Demonstrates leadership in the provision of services through a collaborative process designed to integrate services/functions throughout NWTHS. Participates in and supports a process to measure, assess, and improve performance of management, clinical, and/or support services.

  • Maintain accountability for overall processes affecting unit functioning by demonstrating improvement in at least one process or outcome annually with supportive documentation.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with the Joint Commission, Texas Department of State Health Services, and the Board of Nursing.
  • Assure implementation and evaluation of new and/or enhanced services.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas.
  • BSN required.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing or a relevant field within five years of accepting the position.
  • Appropriate clinical experience.
  • 3–5 years leadership experience.
