The Torque Tool Realization Planner is responsible for delivering the right tool, to the right place, at the right time
. This role strictly follows planning and project information to implement tooling while technically managing tools in alignment with Mercedes‑Benz standards and upstream strategies.
This position ensures all NOK (Not OK) conditions for screws and nuts are detected and addressed. Under general supervision, the role supports torque process control, leads torque studies for release, and drives resolution of product concerns throughout the product lifecycle.
Essential Functions Project Planning- Perform engineering changes for potential projects, including updates to existing DC tools
- Ensure plant training requirements are met per specifications
- Support production startup plans and design reviews
- Receive and compare supplier quotations in coordination with IPS
- Create purchase requisitions and support the supplier awarding process
- Develop torque strategy and goals with management and internal stakeholders
- Present project status, milestones, risks, and opportunities to cross‑functional teams
- Lead torque business within the Assembly Shop
- Align plant direction with global Mercedes‑Benz torque strategy
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams on tool upgrades and issue resolution
- Manage change implementation and interfaces
- Support torque release capability studies for A‑ and B‑rank fasteners
- Participate in floor investigations and root‑cause analysis of torque concerns
- Apply and implement Mercedes‑Benz torque standards
- Program torque data collection equipment (PLUS system and tool software)
- Train team members on proper equipment usage
- Monitor tool availability, calibration, inventory, and usage
- Manage QS‑Torque and tooling verification data
- Support Product Safety and CEPRA requirements
- Manage tool management service providers
- Monitor torque tool readiness during production changes
- Ensure DC and non‑DC tools meet RD and process requirements
- Ensure documentation is completed per project timelines
- Monitor torque equipment performance and production readiness
- Coordinate and manage torque tools used in production
- Ensure accuracy, quality, and efficiency in assembly operations
- Support error‑proofing solutions with future projects in mind
- Communicate with TOC, other plants, and SAK on emerging technologies
- Handover torque tools to production teams
- Perform all work safely and participate in safety training and programs
- Follow all safety rules, regulations, and procedures
- Report unsafe acts, conditions, and injuries immediately
- Work safely 100% of the time
