The Senior Power Plant Process Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert supporting multiple coal-fired and/or gas-fired power generation facilities. The role requires in-depth technical expertise in performance monitoring, systems troubleshooting, and pollution control processes. This position involves substantial fieldwork and requires an individual who can work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:Monitor and analyze power plant performance across multiple facilities to ensure optimal efficiency and reliability.
Lead troubleshooting of plant systems and equipment, identifying and resolving performance issues.
Conduct plant walkdowns, system inspections, and equipment condition assessments.
Evaluate and support air quality control systems, including:
Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD)
Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR)
Electrostatic Precipitators (ESP)
Fabric Filters
Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS)
SO₃ mitigation systems
Provide outage planning and inspection support including coordination of repairs.
Collaborate with OEM vendors (e.g., GE, URS, Mitsubishi) during equipment inspections and upgrades.
Utilize plant information and remote monitoring systems for data collection and performance analytics.
Document findings, prepare technical reports, and communicate results to plant personnel and management.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and technological advancements in power generation and pollution control.
Minimum 10 years of experience in the power generation industry (preferred).
Proven experience supporting multiple plant sites or systems.
Expertise in power plant equipment and control systems.
Strong proficiency in using plant performance monitoring tools and information systems.
Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities for plant equipment and processes.
Capable of independently managing site visits, inspections, and technical analysis.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
Ability to adapt quickly to new processes, technologies, and plant configurations.
Comfortable working in a dynamic field environment with limited supervision.
Experience in outage support, including planning and repair oversight, is highly desirable.
