Job Title:
Project Shutdown Planner
Location: Qatar
Job Purpose
Support planning functions for medium- to large-scale project shutdowns, ensuring the implementation of effective scheduling, monitoring, and reporting processes.
Role Context and Challenges
This role provides support to ensure timely and on-budget execution of complex brownfield project shutdown scopes. Key challenges include:
- Ensuring consistent application of shutdown planning processes.
- Managing projects across multiple facilities and locations.
- Coordinating numerous annual shutdowns and unplanned emergency tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Support integrated shutdown planning, including scope definition, scheduling, and progress reporting for medium- to large-scale shutdown projects.
- Maintain clear reporting and communication with project management teams.
- Review contractor deliverables, including schedules, resource loading, manpower, equipment plans, and progress reports.
- Coordinate alignment of project shutdown schedules, clash reviews, and integrated hourly schedules.
- Communicate lookahead plans, review recovery plans, and ensure timely contractor input.
- Provide schedule and status updates during pre-shutdown, shutdown, and post-shutdown phases.
- Track and follow up on deliverables related to project shutdown scopes.
- Support the development and review of recovery plans in case of delays.
- Provide day and night shift coverage during shutdown phases.
- Perform critical and near-critical path analysis and communicate findings.
- Contribute to performance analysis, benchmarking, and sharing best practices within the projects control function.
- Assist in improving work methods and practices within project controls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
Experience and Skills
- Minimum 5 years of multi-discipline experience in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on project shutdown planning and scheduling.
- Proficiency in project scheduling and office applications.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Computer literate with experience in professional office and technical applications.
Additional Information
- This role may involve work across multiple locations and requires flexibility to support day and night shifts during shutdown periods.
