Financial Crime Compliance aligns current activities within Global Risk and helps to build these into a more integrated framework, which enables HSBC to manage financial crime risk more effectively. It builds stronger controls to improve the way Financial Crime Compliance risks are managed to spot gaps as well as trends so that the team can act. It proactively gathers and analyses financial intelligence in a smart way so that suspicious transactions, activities or connections can be identified, and we can adequately protect our customers from the threat of financial crime.
We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our Financial Crime Compliance team, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.
The job holder supports Senior Management in meeting their regulatory obligations by providing active support in the adherence of the Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter Terrorist Financing (CTF), Sanctions and Tax Evasion policies in compliance with the UAE Central Bank regulations, Group policies and international standards.
The jobholder assists the Senior Advisory Manager to identify and share Sanctions, AML and Tax Evasion compliance risks by completing timely Quality Assurance activities, sharing outcomes with the business, fostering a compliance culture in the Bank by engaging with relevant teams and providing feedback on QA performed, optimizing relations with stakeholders, protecting the bank’s reputation and complying with applicable UAE and Group policies, standards and local laws to prevent criminal sanctions.
The role requires independent handling of assigned tasks, the ability to take decisions within designated authority, independently analyze and critically evaluate responses, and escalate as appropriate.
The person will be responsible for providing Sanctions, AML, CTF advice and guidance relating to their assigned area of responsibility to the relevant business areas in the UAE Compliance team.
Duties & Responsibilities- Support Compliance and Business Management in meeting HSBC’s regulatory requirements on completing the Quality Assurance of Anti Money Laundering and Sanctions risk.
- Support the implementation of KYC policies and Customer Due Diligence requirements in CIB & IWPB UAE.
- Provide Compliance support and direction on the QA of the New to Bank high risk customers.
- Provide guidance and direction to CIB & IWPB Relationship Managers on the application and implementation of FCC Compliance policies and procedures applicable to CIB & IWPB customers as part of the QA outcome.
- Assist the Senior FC Advisory Manager in complying with all relevant Laws, Rules, Regulations and Group policies related to Financial Crime.
- Proactively assist the Senior FC Advisory Manager and Senior Business management to ensure that the CIB & IWPB business areas operate in a compliant manner.
- Provide guidance to business areas on AML, Sanctions and Tax Evasion risk and exposure related to customer account opening and transactional activity in more complex situations.
- Provide guidance to UAE project teams and compliance representation on any FC related systems project for the country.
- Provide guidance and training on implementation of AML, Sanctions and Tax Evasion compliance within countries and businesses.
- Provide AML and Sanctions compliance representation at CIB & IWPB related projects.
- Provide advice on compliance & AML/CTF/Sanctions/Tax Evasion issues that arise through the country compliance functions.
- Support the Senior FC Advisory Manager by providing back-up coverage for leave and vacation.
- Conduct reviews for Branches and Business areas for AML/CTF/Sanctions/Tax Evasion compliance. Produce review reports and make recommendations.
- Support the Senior FC Advisory Manager on country compliance reviews.
- Raise exceptions through Helios reporting system and make decisions on reporting to senior management. Ensure a review of all cases on a quarterly basis and provide updates where necessary…
