Responsibilities- Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance
- Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer tools when applicable
- Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
- Replaces defective components as instructed
- Works unsupervised on most tasks and supports facility maintenance duties
- Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint
- Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation
- Complies with safety, DOT, MOT and other regulatory guidelines
- Mentors Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels; accesses internal and external maintenance documents
- Provides other support duties as required to support operations
- SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
220) and complete OEM diagnostic tool courses as required by location fleet mix
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational/Technical certification or degree preferred
- Basic tools required
- Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine maintenance and basic diagnostics (AC and electrical)
- Three (3)+ years relevant work experience preferred
- CDL CLASS A preferred and other certifications as required by location
- Minimum 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy- and medium-duty equipment
- Knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire; pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background/MVR checks for last 3 years
- Hourly pay: $29.50 per hour
- Certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained up to $700
- Quarterly bonus: up to $500 per quarter
- Sign-on bonuses: $2,500 at 30 days and $2,500 at 90 days
- Annual merit pay increases; on-the-job paid training
- Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match; start at 30 days
- Paid time off accrues from day one (80 hours per year); additional time off for U.S. military veterans
