Overview
Please note this is a Field-Based (Remote from Corporate Office; Not Work From Home) - Travel: 80–85%.
Home of residence should be in the following areas:
Cleveland/Akron OH, Columbus OH, Indianapolis IN.
The Installation Technician – Level II independently installs, configures, tests, and troubleshoots Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, structured cabling, and supporting network infrastructure at commercial customer sites throughout the Midwest. This role requires demonstrated technical expertise, strong problem-solving ability, and the capacity to operate with minimal supervision in dynamic field environments. This position regularly works on-site at retail, fuel, hospitality, and commercial locations and is responsible for ensuring installations are completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with company and client standards.
Key Responsibilities- Install and configure POS hardware and peripheral devices (scanners, printers, pin pads, receipt printers, kiosks, handhelds, etc.)
- Perform structured cabling installations including Cat5e/Cat6 runs, terminations, patch panels, labeling, and testing
- Install and mount network equipment, racks, cabinets, and related infrastructure
- Conduct system diagnostics and troubleshoot hardware, cabling, and connectivity issues independently
- Interpret site drawings, wiring diagrams, and project scopes
- Coordinate directly with customers and project managers to ensure successful project execution
- Document installation details, testing results, and service activities accurately
- Adhere to safety requirements including PPE, driving standards, lift usage, and job hazard awareness
- Travel to customer locations (overnight travel required based on territory)
- Occasional after-hours or overnight project work
- 2–4 years of field installation experience in POS, low‑voltage, or network infrastructure environments
- Demonstrated experience running and terminating structured cabling
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, switches, routers)
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and floor plans
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regionally
- Ability to work independently and manage workload without direct supervision
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
Extensive Midwest travel required.
Preferred- CompTIA A+, Network+, BICSI, or manufacturer certifications
- Experience in retail or distribution center deployments
Compensation aligned to Midwest independent technician market range.
