Serves as a unit-based resource that supports the RN Nurse Manager in the patient care operations for a designated area(s) on a 24-hour basis; plans and develops tactical short, mid- and long-term goals and processes to enhance and improve the operations of the unit to support Summa Health’s mission, vision and values; identify barriers to meeting goals; manages, guides, coaches, and evaluates the work performance of patient care staff in a designated area;

collaborates with other patient care departments and areas that relate directly or indirectly to patient care operations and services; assists with the management of unit budget plans; assists with calculating a return on investment for unit initiatives; participates in development of evidence-based standards of practice; identifies opportunities for improvement in patient care and organizational processes.

• Graduate of a program of professional nursing that is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
• BSN required
• Master’s degree preferred
• Clinical Certification preferred or required to obtain within two (2) years
• Current license to practice nursing in the State of Ohio

• Three (3) years of clinical nursing experience and demonstrated leadership qualities

• Effective performance of this role at Summa Health System requires that the Assistant Nurse Manager demonstrate core competencies in the area of customer focus, teamwork, job knowledge, and resource management.

• Promotes the nursing professional practice model. Practices within the organizational policies and procedures, and Department of Nursing Standards of Practice. Maintains standards that promote patient safety.
• Ability to provide necessary care to patients utilizing an evidence-based and process improvement methodology that is grounded in nursing theory.
• Ability to effectively interact with patients/customers with the understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
• Retains professional certification in nursing administration or clinical area.
• Meet mandatory educational and health requirements.
• Maintains and seeks new knowledge related to patient care issues, quality improvement and cost reduction, current policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Demonstrates computer skills required to perform job functions

• Heavy:
  Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay. Please keep in mind that the range that is listed is the full base salary range.
