Summary: Guided by knowledge of the basic principles of nursing based on the biological, physical, and psycho-social sciences, utilizes judgment supported by evidence and nursing theory in the delivery of nursing care. Provides, coordinates and/or delegates nursing care and manages resources in the delivery of care for patients, the family of patients and the community, with the goal of attaining, maintaining and restoring optimum health.
Supports the staffing of Emergency Departments throughout Summa Health. Supplement staffing in other areas as needed according to skill and competency.
Required to float to all campuses (e.g., Akron Campus, Barberton Campus, Wadsworth Emergency Department, and Green Emergency Department)
ResponsibilitiesCarry out nursing care and coordination in the Emergency Department and other areas as assigned. Float to multiple campuses as needed and support staffing requirements with appropriate skill and competency.
Minimum QualificationsEducation Required:
- Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Applicants with an Associate's degree will be considered but are required to obtain BSN within three (3) years of employment
- Graduate of a program of professional nursing that is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
- Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio
Required:
- One (1) year of related RN experience required for the specialty in which the Regional Float Pool RN is primarily assigned.
- Specialty areas include:
Emergency Department - Additional related previous experience and/or preparation may be required for designated units.
Qualifications:
- Must complete specialty-specific competency based orientation pathway.
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
- Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
- Requires exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other potentially hazardous conditions common to a clinical environment, such as risk of falls, strains, etc.
- Maintain current Basic Life Support certification;
Additional certifications are required for specialty areas as defined. Examples include but are not limited to: ACLS, NIH, NVCI, etc.
Competency:
- Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect, dignity and diversity.
- Heavy:
Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.

Salary and Benefits$60.50/hr - $60.50/hr
The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members when determining offers. Please keep in mind that the range that is listed is the full base salary range.
